In the last year my color palette shifted, I am drawn to less saturated colors than before. I tend to keep the surface bare, or muted. I think the reality is so overwhelming that I long for less distraction and clutter and gravitate towards minimizing my engagement with each piece. Less is more.

I feel the falling bird laying on the ground is an apt metaphor for the current state we are living in. I have left the background of the painting bare, in an effort to keep the surface raw and empty, echoing the bird in the center.
